Every client, every call, every task. One bench.
Workbench is the AI-assisted project manager for freelance developers. Capture tasks from anywhere with a hotkey, turn client calls into action items automatically, and always know what to work on next.
macOS, Windows and Linux · Web · iOS & Android · No credit card
Captures and imports meetings from the tools your clients already use
From passing thought to filed task in one sentence.
Hit ⌃ ⌥ Space from any app and type it the way you'd say it. Workbench works out the client, the due date and the priority, then files it and gets out of your way.
One hotkey, everywhere
A Spotlight-style popup over whatever you're doing. Enter saves, Esc dismisses. You never leave your editor.
Understands plain English
“by Friday”, “next sprint”, “urgent”, “for Acme”. Dates, priorities and project names are picked out for you.
Files it in the right place
Matches the sentence to the right client project, and creates a new one when it's someone you haven't worked with yet.
Your client calls turn into tasks. Automatically.
Press Record, or ⌘ ⌥ R, and talk. When the call ends, Workbench writes the summary and files every action item under the right project, each one linked to the moment it was said.
Bot optional
Record your mic and computer audio with nobody joining — works with any call app. Or send the Workbench Notetaker to a Zoom, Meet or Teams call to get every speaker by name.
Action items with receipts
Every task keeps the quote and timestamp it came from. Click it and you're at that exact moment in the transcript.
Live transcript as you talk
Follow along during the call, or keep working in other apps. Recording continues from the menu bar.
Understand every meeting, not just remember it.
Each call is broken down into what was said, what was decided and who said what, so you can walk into the next one prepared.
Ask about this meeting
Ask a question in plain English. Answers come from the transcript, with [m:ss] citations that jump to the moment.
Talk time, turns and questions
Per-speaker stats calculated from the transcript itself, plus sentiment and engagement scores with the reasoning behind them.
Chapters and decisions
Long calls get chapters, key points and a list of what was actually agreed.
Bring transcripts from anywhere
Record live, upload an audio file, paste a VTT or SRT, or let Zoom and Google Meet transcripts import themselves after the call.
Ask “what should I work on?” and get a real answer.
Four clients, thirty open tasks, two calls this afternoon. Workbench looks at deadlines, priorities, what you promised and which clients you've neglected, then tells you what to do next and why.
- Ranked suggestions with a one-line reason for each
- Weighs promises made on calls, not just due dates
- Spreads attention so no client silently goes cold
The things you'd forget, it won't.
Native notifications before deadlines, a morning nudge with the shape of your day, and a Needs Attention panel that flags overdue work and projects that have gone quiet.
- Deadline reminders as native desktop notifications
- A daily summary when you sit down to work
- Stale-project detection across every client
Your calendar, with the context you need.
Connect Google Calendar and your meetings show up next to your tasks. When a call starts, Workbench offers to record it. When it ends, you can see exactly which tasks came out of it.
- Read-only Google Calendar sync, 30 days back and 60 ahead
- One-click recording from the event that's happening now
- Every past meeting linked to the tasks it created
Built for your desk. With you everywhere else.

Your clients trust you. You can trust this.
Client calls are confidential. Recording is always your choice — with a notetaker in the call or without one — and you never have to wonder where the audio went.
You decide what's recorded
Nothing listens until you press Record or send the notetaker to a call. The bot only joins meetings you choose, and it shows up by name so everyone knows.
Audio isn't kept
Audio is transcribed and discarded — notetaker recordings are deleted from our recording provider once the transcript is in. Only the transcript and its results are stored.
Encrypted credentials
Google and Zoom tokens are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, and revoked when you disconnect.
Read-only access
Integrations read calendar events and transcripts. Workbench never writes to your calendar or meetings.
What a calmer freelance day looks like.
- 9:00
A morning nudge
Three things due today, one overdue, and Northwind is waiting on you. You know the shape of the day before you open a single tab.
- 9:05
Ask what's next
Focus ranks your work across every client and tells you why. You start on the launch blocker, not the inbox.
- 11:30
Record the client call
The calendar says Acme's sync is starting. One click and it's recording. You stay present in the conversation instead of taking notes.
- 12:05
Tasks appear on their own
Summary written, three action items filed under Acme, each linked to the moment it was promised.
- 15:20
Capture without context-switching
Mid-debug, you remember Halcyon's DNS change. ⌃⌥Space, one sentence, back to your editor.
- 18:00
Close the laptop knowing
Nothing promised today is floating in your head. It's all on the bench for tomorrow.

Questions, answered
Does Workbench join my calls?
Only if you want it to. By default there's no bot: the desktop app records your microphone and your computer's audio when you press Record (or ⌘⌥R). For Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams you can instead send the Workbench Notetaker, which joins as a named participant and labels every line of the transcript with who said it — including guests. Zoom and Google Meet transcripts the provider already made can also be imported after the call.
Which meeting apps does it work with?
Recording works with anything that plays sound on your computer: Zoom, Google Meet, Slack huddles, Discord, Teams, a phone call through your Mac. The Notetaker joins Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams calls. Zoom and Google Meet can also be connected directly for automatic transcript imports.
Is my audio stored?
No. Audio is transcribed in short segments and then discarded. Workbench keeps the transcript, the summary and the tasks, not the recording.
What happens to my data from Google and Zoom?
Integrations are read-only. Workbench reads calendar events and meeting transcripts, never writes to them, and stores access tokens encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM). Disconnect any time from Settings and the grant is revoked.
Do I need the desktop app?
Projects, tasks, the calendar and meeting review all work in the browser. The desktop app adds the global quick-capture hotkey, system-audio meeting recording, native notifications and a menu bar item.
What counts as a recorded meeting, and what's an upload credit?
A recorded meeting is one you capture live with Workbench's recorder, whatever its length. Uploading an audio file instead uses credits: one credit per minute of audio. Imported Zoom and Google Meet transcripts and pasted transcripts don't use either. Allowances reset on the 1st of each month.
Can I cancel or switch plans?
Yes, any time. If you go back to Free, everything you've created stays; you just can't add projects past the Free limit of 2 until you archive some.
Who is Workbench for?
Independent developers, designers and consultants who juggle several clients at once and lose track of what was promised on which call. It works for small studios too, but it's built around one person's day.
Pull up a chair at your bench.
Free to start, set up in two minutes. Your next client call ends with the tasks already filed.
